"Virupaksha" is a 2023 Telugu-language horror thriller film from India, directed by Karthik Varma Dandu and co-written by Sukumar. The film was produced by B. V. S. N. Prasad and Sukumar through Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra and Sukumar Writings respectively. The cast includes Sai Dharam Tej, Samyuktha Menon, Sunil, Rajeev Kanakala, Brahmaji, Ajay, and Ravi Krishna.

Released on April 21, 2023, "Virupaksha" garnered generally positive reviews from critics and achieved commercial success at the box office.

The plot revolves around the events that took place in 1979 in Rudravanam. Venkata Chalapathy and his wife are brutally attacked, taken away, and burned alive by the enraged villagers who believe their eerie rituals and black magic caused multiple deaths in the village. Before dying, Chalapathy's wife curses Rudravanam, predicting the destruction of the village after twelve years. Their young son, Bhairava, is sent to an orphanage on the request of Sarpanch Harishchandra Prasad.

In 1991, Anasuyamma, accompanied by her son Surya and nephew, returns to Rudravanam to donate a piece of land for a school and attend the village's annual carnival. Surya falls in love with Nandini, Harishchandra Prasad's daughter, but she hesitates to accept his proposal. Strange events occur as a resident goes missing and is later found dead in the village temple. The village is then sealed off for eight days, and Surya, who carries a cure for Nandini's condition, is trapped inside.

As the days pass, deaths occur under mysterious circumstances. Surya investigates with the help of an RMP doctor and discovers a connection between the deaths. He uncovers a dark secret involving Chalapathy's family and suspects Bhairava's involvement. The head priest suggests sacrificing Nandini to end the cycle of deaths, but Surya believes it's a ploy to destroy the village.

With the assistance of an Aghora, Surya attempts to stop the villagers from proceeding with the ritual, but they are hindered by neighboring villagers who fear the curse spreading. Surya confronts Harishchandra Prasad and learns that Nandini is Chalapathy's daughter, kept hidden by Harishchandra Prasad. Surya confronts Nandini, who reveals her motives and seeks revenge for her family's suffering. Despite her insistence, Surya refuses to leave and tries to save her, eventually sacrificing her to break the curse.

In the end, Surya convinces the villagers to abandon their superstitions and transform Chalapathy's house into a school. As he gazes at Nandini's pendant, his eyes glow with a paranormal energy during her cremation.
